After the way of using the Chinese woodwinds are divided into two types: labial & lingual. There is a lateral hole on the upside of the labial musical instrument where the air is blown. Pointed border of the bore parts the air flow. The music forms due to the vibration of air stream inside the tube. Flute is concerned to be labial woodwinds. There is a reed in the conformation of lingual woodwinds. The air stream flows through it. Clarinet and saxophone are concerned to be lingual together with some types of uncommon instruments. On the head of a lingual instrument the reed is situated. It creates the vibration of the air flow in the pipe. The reeds are of 2 types: single and double. A single reed is a small cane blade and its function is to shut orifice in the mouthpiece of the woodwind instrument and to make there a little crack. Resonance of the reed serves to close and open the channel in the mouthpiece of the instrument. A double reed is a tight bond of two canes in the mouthpiece of the instrument. While the air stream is being winded inside - it is resonating, shutting and opening the crack created by themselves. Musicians relate oboe and bassoon to these musical instruments.
